Green Party of Ocean County Celebrates the Inauguration of Jessica Clayton.

Brick NJ- After campaigning hard since last April, Jessica Clayton was sworn in as the newest member of the Brick Board of education last Wednesday at Brick High school. During her campaign Jessica also helped organize the Green Party of Ocean County, held activist coalition events, and showed us all what a Green who spends time being an advocate for their community can accomplish. Jessica stated “When you show people that you are passionate about doing what’s right for children: standing up for play in early childhood, mandatory recess, outdoor education, and less reliance on PARCC test results, you show them you are a candidate worth voting for.” Jessica Clayton ran a clean campaign on issues her community cares about and stayed closely aligned with Green Party values . GPNJ Election Committee Chair Melissa Tomlinson (Who is also a teacher) said “Jessica’s victory is proof that, as a society, we have not lost our focus on taking care of the future by pledging to protect childhood.” Jessica’s professional experience includes working as a teacher and owner of a home daycare called Riverside Rhymes Nature Play School. She has also volunteered as a co-leader for a mixed age Daisy/Brownie troop. Clayton earned her New Jersey teacher certification for Preschool through third grade and Kindergarten through fifth grade. She completed a P-3 certification program at Montclair State University. Clayton graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in both history and English. We need you to help us support more candidates like Jessica Clayton. Click Here to donate to GPNJ.
