  • Dear Friends of Peace and Justice, As you may know, peace activist and Gold Star Mom, Cindy Sheehan, is stopping at Monmouth County by bicycle enroute to De Ceit from California.. She hopes to attend our ongoing Saturday Peace Vigil at the gates of Fort Monmouth (intersection of Route 35 and Tinton Ave., Eatontown.) We want to be prepared for her arrival with signs related to her issues: for peace, justice, Bradley Manning, welcoming signs for Cindy, etc….the very kind of signs displayed at Saturday vigils there. A reception for Cindy will be held in Oakhurst from 1-4PM and is by invitation only and YOU are invited! The reception is NOT open to the public. Recipients of this email invitation may choose to bike ride to Oakhurst with Cindy if in fact she is able to keep to her projected travel schedule, no easy task. We can only hope. Spook Handy will sing & play music at the reception between 1-2PM only. He must leave. Try to arrive at the gates of Fort Monmouth around 11:30AM in case Cindy arrives ahead of time. Be ready to return to your vehicle at 12:15PM if you are going to Oakhurst after the vigil.

For planning purposes you absolutely must confirm your intention to attend the reception for Cindy in Oakhurst by either emailing Dave at or by calling him at 732-571-9464 PARKING SUGGESTIONS AT FORT MONMOUTH: After the Exxon station parking lot across the street from the gates of Fort Monmouth fills, the local police confirmed that parking along Tinton Ave. is acceptable up to but not beyond the apartments just before the bridge. Additional parking is available at the Eatontown Municipal Building one block up the road and one block over at 47 Broad Street. Your participation in the peace vigil and /or the reception is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for Cindy Sheehan’s dedication to peace. As an Amercian mother who lost her son in an illegal war, Ciny represents all people who have ever lost a family member in war and she speaks for many others who want an end to war, forever. —Hope to see you Saturday.
