Trenton. The
Green Party of New Jersey will be holding its fifth annual
convention on Sunday, September 23, 2001, at the Labor Education
Center in New Brunswick. The keynote address will be given by Bernard White,
formerly of WBAI, speaking on the current condition of
free-speech and community supported radio.
The
convention will feature current GPNJ candidates for office,
including Jerry L. Coleman who is running for governor of New
Jersey and candidates from Atlantic County and Princeton.
The
convention will be followed by a Peace Walk into downtown New
Brunswick, ending in a candlelight Peace Vigil at George and New
Streets.
Due
to the tragedy on September 11, a discussion of Green
perspectives, policies and actions related to the disaster has
been added to the agenda.
Workshops
will be address: "The
Blue-Green Alliance: How to Make it Political Reality,"
"Anti-Nuclear Activism and GPNJ," "Reaching Out
to the Latino Community," "Perspectives from the
Peoples Organization for Progress," "Running Green
Candidates in Local Elections," " Campaign
Finance Reform."
