March and Rally for justice for Kamal Abdul.
"THE STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE FOR ABDUL KAMAL IS AT A CRITICAL STAGE
Abdul Kamal, a 30 year-old Black man was unarmed when he was shot 10 times and killed by Irvington, New Jersey police more than a year ago. His family and friends and many in the community, including the People's Organization For Progress, believe his death was unwarranted and unjustified.
Since the time that he was killed an intense struggle has been waged to bring to justice the police officers who took his life. This struggle has included protests, marches, rallies, meetings, letter writing campaigns and other activities demanding justice for Abdul Kamal.
The struggle for justice for Abdul Kamal has reached a critical stage. His case will go before an Essex County grand jury sometime this month.
At this time, it is imperative that a clear message be sent to the Essex County Prosecutor and throughout the entire area that we want the officers who killed him to be held accountable for his death. Our community wants the officers who shot Abdul Kamal indicted by the grand jury, arrested, charged, and brought to trial for killing him.
In this regard, the People's Organization For Progress (POP) will have a march and rally to demand justice for Abdul Kamal. It will take place Saturday, January 10th, 12 noon, beginning at Irvington Town Hall, 1 Civic Square, in Irvington, New Jersey.
I am urging in the strongest terms possible that all members, friends, and supporters of the People's Organization For Progress not only come out for this action but that we do everything in our power to mobilize the entire community to participate in this protest.
Now is the time to turn up the heat and put the pressure on. We must get the people out into the streets to demand justice for Abdul Kamal. Spread the word about this event through word of mouth, phone calls, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media, leaflet distribution, and any other way possible.
I look forward to seeing all of you there. Power To The People!
