Our Bylaws

The Bergen County Green Party is a local Green Party affiliated with the Green Party of New Jersey ("GPNJ"). We stand on the same Ten Principles as GPNJ, and participate with the state party on campaigns.

In addition to fielding candidates for public office, we work on various issues, sometimes in conjunction with activist groups. Some of our favorites are:

  • Clean campaign financing
  • Peace - not only opposition to war, but also to arms spending
  • Environment; clean air and water
  • Preservation of open spaces
  • Democracy - Instant Runoff Voting, Proportional Representation
  • Defense of our Communities and Small Businesses
  • The right of working people to a living wage

Meetings:    Second Wednesday of each month (except for April 2006) at 7:30 pm. at The Ethical Culture Society, 687 Larch Ave., Teaneck, NJ.  (The Ethical Culture Society neither endorses nor rejects opinions expressed by the Bergen County Green Party nor is a sponsoring organization of the Bergen County Green Party.) Get Directions.

Health Care Legislative Alert (posted 1/29/05)

Some time ago, the NJ Assembly passed bill A1986, the "New Jersey Health Care Access Study Commission" act, sponsored by Loretta Weinberg. This, a hard fought-for first step, would set up a Commission to study delivery of health services for all. The Senate version of the bill, S1908, has been introduced by Senator Kean, but is sitting unmoved in the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. Letters and phone calls are needed to blast it loose.
