Our Depleted Uranium Ban petition (signed by Ramsey Clark, former Attorney General of the U.S on Aug 7 in Newark) reads as follows:

PETITION TO BAN DEPLETED URANIUM

Whereas Depleted Uranium, a poisonous radioactive waste is being used in ammunition produced in New Jersey at Picatinny Arsenal

Whereas Depleted Uranium has been found to cause Gulf War Syndrome in American soldiers and Iraq's civilian population.

Whereas, use of Depleted Uranium weapons violates international law and threatens future generations and therefore,

We, the undersigned, petition Senators Lautenberg and Torricelli, and all N.J. elected officials to (1) Immediately halt Depleted Uranium weapons production (2) provide benefits to service personnel suffering from Depleted Uranium exposure (3) Provide progress reports on clean-up of superfund sites with complete accountability by military personnel of safe storage of remaining Depleted Uranium and its subsequent disposal (4) Transfer monies from Depleted Uranium production to fund health, welfare and jobs in a cleaner environment.
